Rectangular and round trampolines are two common types of trampolines, and they each have their own advantages and disadvantages. The choice between them depends on your preferences, available space, and intended use. Here's a comparison of the two:
- Bounce Performance:
Rectangular Trampoline: These trampolines typically provide a more controlled and predictable bounce. The springs are positioned asymmetrically, which allows for different levels of bounce in various directions. This makes them ideal for gymnastics and advanced tricks.
Round Trampoline: Round trampolines generally offer a consistent bounce across the surface. They are great for recreational bouncing and are often preferred for family use.
- Space Requirements:
Rectangular Trampoline: Rectangular trampolines usually require more space because of their elongated shape. They may fit better in long, narrow yards or areas where space is limited width-wise.
Round Trampoline: Round trampolines are more space-efficient and fit well in most backyard settings. They don't have corners sticking out, making them safer in tight spaces.
- Safety:
Rectangular Trampoline: Because of their different bounce characteristics, rectangular trampolines can be more challenging for beginners and younger children to control. However, they can still be made safe with proper safety measures like enclosures and padding.
Round Trampoline: Round trampolines often have a safer bounce for inexperienced users due to their even bounce pattern. Safety nets and padding are still recommended.
- Price:
Rectangular Trampoline: Rectangular trampolines tend to be more expensive than round ones. The higher cost is partly due to their construction and the materials used.
Round Trampoline: Round trampolines are generally more affordable, making them a popular choice for families on a budget.
- Weight Limit:
Rectangular Trampoline: Rectangular trampolines often have higher weight limits compared to round ones, which can accommodate multiple users simultaneously.
- Aesthetics:
Rectangular Trampoline: Some people prefer the sleek and modern look of a rectangular trampoline, which can blend better with certain outdoor designs.
Round Trampoline: Round trampolines have a classic appearance that works well in various backyard settings.

A youtuber Ryan Malloy do the test.
Rectangle Trampoline
"Something for skywalker that said that no matter where you land you can control your bounce which is completely false because from experience I know that I have landed somewhere and have flown either into the springs or into the net and you cannot control your bounce from anywhere on the tramps."
"One of the main differences between the two tramps is obviously the size."
"Rectangle, you do get more space to go back and forth as in with a circle you don’t, which is a big thing if you’re just learning and you don’t have much control."
It’s much easier to learn new stuff and not be scared of hitting the net on a rectangle trampoline. But again the thing is that since it’s a rectangle the width is pretty short compared to the length so if you’re doing like twisting stuff or if you like lose control there is a much bigger chance you’re gonna go into the net or maybe even into the springs.
With the circle you have a whole entire space all around you don’t have to worry about going to the side too much. only thing really is just you have to control a bit more trying to stay in the middle and then you’re just set really.
If you need more space going back and forth I recommend a rectangle that is a major pro to it. What also comes with the shape of the rectangles will like naturally have more bounce.
If you get a really bad like $200 rectangle it’s not going to be that good. But if you go for the high end rectangle trampolines like A... you’re going to get a lot of bounce.
Round Trampoline
The thing about circles is that to get a lot of height you really have to control your balance. You have to stay in the middle and once you start to go up like towards the springs or to the side towards the springs you start to lose control more and it makes it harder to get more balance.
Because the springs you’re not getting like all the springs working together you only get in the front ones and the back ones are barely going. So it’s going to either shoot you back or do something like that.
The choice between a rectangular and a round trampoline depends on your specific needs and preferences. If you're looking for precision and plan to do advanced tricks, a rectangular trampoline may be the better choice. On the other hand, if you want an all-around family-friendly option that fits in most spaces, a round trampoline is a great option. Regardless of your choice, safety should always be a top priority, so be sure to invest in safety accessories like enclosures and padding.
